Peter Chang McLean: Reviews & Ratings
The food was superb. One of the best restaurant I've eaten at. Service was very polite friendly and professional. Everything we ordered each had its own special delightful taste. Even my picky son tried duck for the first time and loved it.
first time to try AYCE during lunch time. Many options with only $28 per person. great value for money! Nice service from Jennifer. Will come here again
They do not serve old noodles I promise you! but there's a premium for that... the duck rolls are legit. The firecracker salmon roll was good too. The combination lo mein definitely I am pleased
We have always loved Peter changs and now have visited various locations. I think this one hands down has been the best eating and hospitality experience! We opted for the all you can eat tapas experience and I think if you’re one who likes to try multiple dishes, this is the way to go! We got to try most of the menu including the dim sum items. When we arrived we were told that both were available until 3 pm despite what the dim sum menu stated so just be aware that you’ll have more options to try. My favorites were the Mongolian beef, sweet and sour chicken and osamathus pork rib! My least favorite was the hot and sour soup as it was a bit thin and bland for my personal preference. A honorable mention is the cilantro flounder spring rolls! The staff were also very kind! Jennifer our waitress was super friendly and while she cautioned us initially about how much we were going to order, we may have surprised her for a party of 2. The owner Christine also came by to check in and see how we liked everything. We all chatted for a few minutes and it was such a delightful way to end our meal.
I had a fantastic experience at Peter Chang! The Peking duck and crispy shrimp dumplings were delicious. I also really enjoyed the soup dumplings and the mango mochi. The meal was a little pricey, but the quality of the food and the excellent service make it worth it. I’d highly recommend Peter Chang if you’re looking to treat yourself to delicious Chinese food!
Absolutely phenomenal food. The Peking duck is the best I’ve had. The Mapo tofu was also particularly good. The beers were super unique and tasty. The service was a miss, though. Given that it was Christmas Day and one of the few places open, we were more than willing to let it go and give it another shot on a saner day. Next year, if we go on Christmas again, we’ll make an even earlier reservation and try to get ahead of the 5:00 crush.
TLDR: Fantastic all you can eat Chinese tapas with amazing flavor, fast service, and great value. Come hungry! We came here on a Saturday afternoon for the all you can eat Chinese tapas and were so impressed. My party of two had been to the Peter Chang in Columbia for their all you can eat dim sum and loved it, so we had a feeling this would be another winner. The tapas ends at 3 pm and you get 90 minutes to eat. We arrived around 2:15, so we only had about 45 minutes, but our waitress was amazing. She got dishes out to us super fast and we were able to try almost the whole menu of both tapas and dim sum. Everything came out hot and flavorful. Some of our favorites were the mapo tofu, osmanthus honey pork ribs, salt and pepper shrimp, and Taiwanese fried chicken. Every dish was packed with flavor, spice, and that great numbing heat that Peter Chang is known for. The owner even stopped by to say hi, which was a really nice touch. For $30 per person, this is such a great deal, especially if you come hungry. Overall, we had a fantastic time and can’t wait to come back. Highly recommend!
I love Peter Chang and what he’s done for authentic Chinese food, so I’ve been on a mission to try one of his restaurants wherever I go. This time it was the Peter Change in McLean, which is the Tysons Corner area. I went with friends who also appreciate the authentic flavors of Szechuan food and was promptly seated for lunch on a weekday. A side note – by the time we left, the place was packed! So, make reservations! Our server, Christine W was AMAZING! She did an EXCELLENT job explaining the menu and was very enthusiastic about the various items we needed a further description of. I told her about some items I normally get at other Peter Chang locations and she gave me a rundown of what I might like. She also explained that each location does have slightly different items, based on their local chefs. But she also said that there are certain items that are staples at all his restaurants, such as Bamboo Fish. We started with hot tea and she advised they have a few to choose from, to which we chose Jasmine, which was excellent! Next up was their cucumbers. This is another item that many Szechuan places have, but each style varies. Here they used a heavy amount of sesame oil which really made it taste great! We also choose their Dan Dan Noodles, which were more of a peanut-paste style sauce, rather than a minces pork sauce. They were good, but not exactly what I expected. We also got their bubble scallion pancake which was so very tasty! For entrées they have a dish called Spicy Beef Rice Crispy which isn’t at all what you might think based on the name, it’s a “bowl” made of rice and hardened to be a single, crispy rice bowl. The idea is the beef has such a spice to it, that you pluck off pieces of the crisp rice to eat with it and balance the heat from the stir fried beef. The beef was so very tender and flavored so very nicely! We also got an order of Bamboo Fish, because this is one of the popular things Peter Chang does perfectly at all locations! They use flounder here, like the others and it was perfect! Other items we tried were the Signature House Braised Pork Belly as well as the Dry Spicy Combo Hot Pot with all three proteins; shrimp, beef, and chicken – Another excellent items with lots of flavor!! Everything was excellent and as I mentioned, the service was incredible! Definitely would return and highly recommend stopping in for a unique, authentic experience!
